International Penpal Social Club; Now 62 Countries Strong

Gorham, ME (PRWEB) April 5, 2008

The new face of social networking is one of a global nature. People are reaching out from all over the globe to connect with others of different cultures and different languages. This new wave of social networking only goes to prove people are people and want to connect, no matter where they're from. One such site, International Penpal Social Club is the brainchild of Michael Walrath. Mr. Walrath says that he wants to unite the world. His motto is "Bringing the world together a person at a time." Michael has been a Webmaster for over ten years and sponsors other sites such as International Internet Dating News, a Blog, primarily about the ins and outs of Internet and international dating, as well as Steel Horse Motorcycle News and Lace Wheels- Motorcycles and Women to mention a few.

International Penpal Social Club, located at interational-penpal.com, is not to be confused with some of the others out there, which are less reputable and were quick to snatch up the Penpal name. While some of the others are hawking foreign brides and pen pals for prisoners, Walrath's International Penpal Social Club is a wholesome site for members 18-years and older. Walrath hopes to deter child predation. He does not want to cater to a perverse or negative element. Walrath says, "At International Penpal Social Club our goal is to offer a clean, safe environment, where people of different cultures can meet and greet. The site is monitored daily to prevent minors from slipping through the cracks and to prevent any negative element, including scammers."

International Penpal Social Club offers many great features on the site. Members can create or join a group where they can share their special hobbies or interests. My favorite is the group, "We Love Cultural Food," This tribute to international culinary delights features recipes that members can submit from all over the globe. Also in the food section is a group called cookies from around the world with recipes of awesome sweet treats. There is also a group for motorcycle riders and a group for those that wish to do something about global warming on a worldwide scale called, "Friends of the World." Besides the vast selections of groups to join, there are forums, blogs and articles to entertain. The site features games to play, radio stations to listen to, music downloads, video uploads and Youtube. One of the features that I found interesting was the "Events." Here members can post pictures and write-ups on events from around the world. I found events from China, the Philippines, Canada, Germany, Italy, Brazil, the United States and Ireland, plus many more. At International Penpal Social Club members can make friends, write to their special penpals, or they can enter the chat room and can chat live to people clear across the planet.

For business, networking on a global scale the site features a large classified section that they prompt members to think of as a huge world bazaar. Here members can seek employees, seek jobs, seek house swaps for travel, rent vacation property, or buy, rent, or sell a multitude of international things.

"The site is in English, it is surprising how many people and countries around the world speak English," says Walrath. We have members from Japan, China, Germany, the Philippines, Russia, Mexico, Thailand, India, Italy and France, none of which are English speaking countries." The site is an excellent place for American's working abroad, service men or women and missionaries that are in different countries to communicate and share with their loved ones back home. It can give a sense of being closer to the one's they love. English language centers abroad can use the site as a teaching tool. The site is also a great place to find a mate, for some. Many others however, are just looking to make friends and to learn about other cultures from around the world. A most interesting feature offers a unique first hand look into lives and cultures of members when they post photos of their homelands, and local sites.

"Though we are very new, we already represented by over 63 different countries and growing everyday," Says Michael Walrath, "I will not be surprised if this grows as big as MySpace. The members on International Penpal Social Club are very real, very nice and very sincere people. I am happy to have them as my pen pals. I love being global. There's a whole world out there to explore, and my site offers the opportunity for first hand exploration of different cultures, even if you can't afford to travel abroad." International Penpal Social Club is the new face of global, social networking.

Bellevue, WA (PRWEB) June 8, 2010

L4 Systems, a leading provider of high quality mobile and speech recognition applications, announced today their plans to release L4 Connected TV this fall. The initial focus will be support for visual and voice navigation of features on both the connected TV and the consumers Smartphone that includes real-time social networking, local search, and personal radio.

Market research on the consumers digital lifestyle indicates the market for web-connected TVs will reach global shipments nearing 300 million units by 2014, said Tom Freeman, L4 Systems CEO & President. Delivering an integrated user experience on both the TV and the Smartphone that leverages speech recognition with features that enhance the consumers digital lifestyle represents a revenue opportunity to leverage spontaneous downloads of multimedia content, location based advertising, and subscriptions for premium features.

L4 Systems plans to simultaneously release L4 Connected TV and L4 Connected TV for Mobile to TV and Smartphone application stores this fall. Using a WiFi connected TV and the consumers 3G/4G or WiFi connected Smartphone, the centerpiece of L4 Connected TV will be voice navigation of features along with an open web service hosted in the cloud that aggregates and manages connections to the consumers social network, local search provider, and music.

Launch features and platforms will support:

Web Services: Facebook, Twitter, Google Buzz, Blogger, Bing, and Apple iTunes or Amazon Music Store.

Consumers who have used the demo gave the L4 Connected TV app strong accolades. In the words of one user: Posting comments to Twitter and interacting with online friends using a voice remote on my Droid phone while watching Glee on my couch is super cool! I could download a song featured on the show and use it to personalize a new channel on Internet radio.

L4 Connected TV will support emerging technology platforms to integrate TV with the web for real-time, interactive visual and voice experiences that connect the consumer to their friends, their music, and their world whether at home or on the go, said Stephen Fishburn, CTO of L4 Systems. We believe convergence of the web with the living room with the Smartphone in a portal-like app that uses voice navigation and open web services is the next thing!

HAVE A NICE DAY, BY ORDER OF THE COURT: "Mean Martin Manning" Resists Social Workers Forced Self-Improvement Program In Scott Steins New Novel

New York, NY (PRWEB) July 11, 2006

Can a grumpy old man who hadnt left his apartment in 30 years and just wants to be left alone with his cold-cut sandwiches, his frog figurines, and his TV shows stand up to a relentlessly well-meaning social worker and her enforcers? He can. But to win this epic battle of wills, hell need to call on a lifetime of stubbornness and downright meanness, a patience rarely seen, and more than a little luck.

The curmudgeonly protagonist of Scott Steins new novel "Mean Martin Manning" faces a militant do-gooder in the form of Caseworker Alice Pitney. Pitney is starting a self-improvement program in Martins building and wont take no for an answer. If it takes a trial of absurd proportions and a ludicrous treatment program to make Martin into the man he could be and should have been, thats just fine with her. And if the satire and sarcasm fly fast and furious in the process, thats just fine with Scott Stein and the sacred cow tippers at his publisher, ENC Press.

Scott Stein is associate director of the Certificate Program in Writing and Publishing at Philadelphias Drexel University. The book Drexel University Off the Record, the unauthorized guide for prospective students, lists his Humor & Comedy Writing class as one of the Ten Best Things About Drexel. The Philadelphia Inquirer called his first novel, Lost, wonderfully comic and a page-turner. BookSense.com selected it as a daily pick, calling it hilarious and winning. Stein was the founding editor of the online magazine When Falls the Coliseum: a journal of American culture (or lack thereof), which New York magazine called hip, sardonic ... quirky.

Scheduled for release next winter, "Mean Martin Manning" has just been acquired by the boutique New York fiction house ENC Press, which has established itself as a specialist in sophisticated social satire. Its self-chosen boutique designation involves more than house size and the high level of attention given to the editing, design, and production of each release. It is a deliberately chosen business model as well. With the exception of a few independent bookstores, ENC Press bypasses the usual retail book industry channels, whether brick-and-mortar or online, in favor of selling books exclusively through its Web site. Publisher Olga Gardner Galvin says only her small run/direct sales model makes it possible for her to focus on the content of her books rather than fret about the bottom line. It also allows her to keep all her titles available indefinitely on the Web a practice recently adopted by industry giants Penguin and Random House.

I started out thinking we were alternative because our authors saw and discussed more than one side of any question and issue and did so with wit and humor, which is alternative in todays book industry, says Galvin. But then we realized that in pursuit of such novels we came up with some intelligent alternatives to limited editorial decisions, the hideous practice of printing books only to remainder and pulp them, and serfdom for writers in the form of miserly royalties. We certainly provide an intelligent alternative to the touchy-feely groupthink of the mainstream book scene, simply by publishing guilt-free, topical entertainment for independently thinking people. Mean Martin Manning is one more ENC Press offering for the steadily growing audience of readers who hunger for more sophisticated, nuanced, and original fiction than they can find in most bookstores.

A capsule summary of "Mean Martin Manning" is available at http://www.encpress.com/MMM.html and so are a few of the other wickedest, funniest, and most thought-provoking novels the big publishing business doesnt know how to handle.
